I no longer present the famous French manufacture Gallia / Christofle, one of the most famous of the Art Nouveau, Art Deco periods, 1950. Born with the 20th century, at the time of the famous Universal Exhibition of 1900 in Paris, the Gallia Collection takes its name of an alloy of metals which marked its era. Gallia, a name which refers to "Gaulle", and whose hallmark and symbol will be the rooster, thus putting French innovation in the spotlight, once again. This material has marked the history of Christofle. Of high quality and greater hardness for table goldsmithing, it has the advantage of being massive, of lasting longer and of being able to be melted in a steel mold, instead of being hammered. Very quickly, Gallia will serve as a laboratory of ideas for Christofle, with collections in bold, modern styles, where Tableware and Decorative Arts in general constantly repeat Louis XVI motifs, motifs from the 18th century and of the 19th century since 1850. This is the time of the advent of Art Nouveau, which puts Nature - a stylized Nature - at the center of taste. Following it, the 20th century saw an explosion of new styles from Art Deco to Modernism. The Gallia collection allows Christofle’s fine goldsmithing to experiment with new forms. From 1900, extraordinary artists and designers came together under the name Gallia and the aegis of Christofle, to offer collaborations adorned with the rooster hallmark, becoming for a century the sign of the avant-garde. She will work with famous designers such as Lino SABATTINI, Christian Fjerdingstad... Guaranteed authentic pieces
