"Baron's Crown - Minerva Crystal And Silver Cufflink Box By Sormani"
Beautiful rectangular cufflink box in cut Baccarat crystal and solid silver engraved with a Baron's crown. The silver lid bears the Minerva 1st title hallmark and bears the signature of Sormani in Paris. Paul Sormani established his shop in 1847 at 7, Saint Nicolas cemetery, then in 1854 at 114, rue du Temple and finally in 1867 at 10, rue Charlot in Paris. Empress Eugénie, wife of Napoleon III, made the house successful by decorating its palaces with the creations of Paul Sormani. Initially specializing in luxury travel kits like our box, it then developed into the production of furniture of great refinement, perfect or even perfected copies of the productions of the greatest cabinetmakers of the 18th century such as Riesener, Oeben etc. His fame was national in French high society and in the Courts of Europe. Beautiful witness to the daily refinement of high society at the end of the 19th century or beginning of the 20th century.
