Holy Water Pitcher, Kindi, Origin North India, Tinned Copper And Bronze, 19th Century

Rare due to its significant floral decoration, branches and leaves,
heavy due to the use of tinned copper and bronze.
This very beautiful Kindi from northern India, is a holy water pot.
There is no handle for this type of pot, globular belly on a pedestal, and an esse spout pointing upwards.
This object, a holy water container, was and still is used for washing hands and feet when entering the house, at the start of the meal or at the end. Confusions with the Indian Lotta are common, the Lotta not having a spout.
