A true little jewel of Flemish painting on copper, depicting the Virgin and Child.
The mother modestly lowers her face while supporting her Son with her hands with long tapered fingers.
The Child turns his lively gaze towards the viewer in one of the favorite poses of the great Flemish masters.
The finesse of the painting is remarkable and the Author, thanks to the highly effective chiaroscuro and the perfectly applied shading, manages to create the optical illusion of three-dimensionality. The flesh tones of the protagonists are illuminated by a strong frontal light and stand out from the dark background, increasing their volume. The evident quality of the work is evident from the stylistic purity and the perfection of the brush stroke, but in particular it stands out for a cleanliness of the images that is difficult to find in small copper paintings.
A beautiful antique gilded frame completes the work excellently
