Pair of vases
Porcelain and gilt bronze (8 pieces each)
Dimensions : H. 30 (cm.)
France, last third of the 19th century
A large and very decorative pair of Louis XVI style gilt-bronze and hard-paste porcelain vases with a "Sèvres blue" background. They stand on quadrangular bases decorated with scrapers. The base is set on a laurel frieze and richly decorated with palmettes. Beautiful foliate scroll motifs at the top.
Our vases are interesting examples of the Louis XVI-Imperatrice style and the triumph of eclecticism under the Second Empire.
Condition report: some wear to the gilding, a few hairs on the bottom of the porcelain.
