"Head Of A Winning Athlete, Patinated Plaster From Antiquity "
Head of a winning athlete in patinated plaster imitating marble for the pedestal and bronze for the face.
Bears the stamp of the Arrondelle casting workshop which was located near the Louvre Museum at 2 rue du Louvre in Paris.
Very good condition.

Based on the original bronze work, kept at the Louvre Museum (Paris), called the "head of Benevento" and dated to the first century AD, from a Polycletian model.
Louvre inventory number: NIII 3533; Br 4

It should be noted for comparison that the Leducq study in Paris recently sold at auction and on site many pieces from the Louvre casting workshop and that a resin copy and another in plaster respectively obtained €1,150 and €1,750 including tax for recent editions.
