"18th Century George III Period Mahogany Military Campaign Butlers Tray On Stand"
A stunning and rare late 18th to early 19th-century George III period mahogany military campaign butler's tray table on stand, which extends to double its size, in excellent original condition. It features a rectangular bow-fronted tray with shaped side carrying handles, constructed from top-quality figured mahogany with dovetail joinery. The tray sits on a very good quality folding mahogany X-frame stand, reinforced with a connecting ring-turned stretcher for added strength and easy storage. This allows the table to be quickly set up to provide extra surface space when needed. Between the tray and the folding stand, there is an additional mahogany table that folds open on a pair of brass hinges. It has an inset brass plate designed to receive the original turned brass, mahogany, and ebony ringed screw-in leg to support it when unfolded. The butler's tray is then placed above the X-frame legs to cover the space vacated by the top, making this an unusual and rarer example. This large mahogany butler's tray campaign table extends to double its size. This oversized campaign table features a rich, figured mahogany color and patination. It is truly a beautiful and rare item, with quality construction and original throughout. It is rare to see one in such excellent condition.
