Object description :

"Louis XV Period Tomb Commode, Circa 1740."
Louis XV period tomb chest of drawers, circa 1740. Elegant tomb chest of drawers model with slender curves, as well as a lovely play of veneer colors with varieties of precious woods such as rosewood, violet wood and rosewood, distributed in a traditional frieze from the first half of the 18th century, with panels in 4 open connected sheets, framed by a band and mitered edge. Ornamentation of gilded bronze with rocaille motifs and gray marble top. The chest of drawers opens with 4 drawers on 3 rows. Note the particularity of a peripheral molding work on the drawer fronts, this principle of veneer assembly is old and is mainly found on Regency furniture, in particular on chests of drawers stamped Etienne Doirat (1675-1732). This beautiful piece of furniture is a cabinetmaking work from the first half of the 18th century, Louis XV period around 1740. We note a frame of very good manufacturing quality, composed of oak and softwood with careful assemblies. Chest of drawers in good condition with its veneers, bronzes and period gray Sainte-Anne marble, gilding of the bronzes with a beautiful freshness perfectly highlighting the shapes and the veneers, the frame also retains a very beautiful authenticity due in particular to the quality of its manufacture. Beautiful color of the woods, most refined set. Dimensions: Height: 84 cm Width: 132 cm Depth: 66 cm
