He studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris where he received classical training in painting. In the 1920s, he began exhibiting his works in art fairs. He was quickly noticed for his paintings of female nudes. His works were often controversial because of their daring nature. In the 1950s, he began teaching painting at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. He continued to exhibit his work in art fairs and galleries until his death in 1989. Albert Genta's work is mainly characterized by his paintings of nude women. His models were often women he had met on the street or in Parisian cafés. His paintings are done in oil on canvas. He often uses bright colors and strong contrasts to emphasize the forms of his models. Some of his best-known works include "Seated Nude" (1945) and "Naked Woman Seated on a Bed" (1950). Albert Genta's works have been sold at auction on numerous occasions. In 2015, a painting titled "Reclining Nude" was sold at auction for €26,600. The following year, another of his paintings, "Naked Woman Seated on a Bed", was sold for €29,000.
