John of Nepomuk (born around 1340 in Pomuk, now Nepomuk, in Bohemia, and died on March 20, 1393 in Prague) is a Catholic priest and a martyr. The sources available on this name could refer to two distinct people. He is celebrated on March 20 and always on May 16 in Bohemia as listed in the Roman Martyrology. John of Nepomuk is one of the most venerated saints, given the multiple protection he granted: he is the patron saint of boatmen, bridges, priests, of all men who had something in common with water.
