Early Life: After serving in the army as a driver, Romeo opened his first workshop in 1954. Here, he began to express his creativity through wrought iron, creating works ranging from gates to artistic furniture.
Rise in the Art World: In 1957, Rega consolidated his presence in the art world by registering with the provincial register of artisan businesses and opening a workshop in Vicolo della Frusta. His mastery of wrought iron led him to collaborate with renowned masters in the sector and to work for film productions such as the film Ben-Hur in 1959.
Innovation and recognition: the 1960s and 1970s were decisive for Rega. He met the film impresario Massimo Saraceni and began to explore new horizons. It was at this time that the “Romeo Rega” brand was born, a symbol of the union between traditional craftsmanship and modern design. His creations, characterized by materials such as brass, steel and Perspex, made him a pioneer in the furniture design sector.
International expansion and success: The Romeo Rega brand gained international fame, expanding into key markets in Europe and the United States. The store on Via di Ripetta in Rome became a center of design excellence, attracting customers from all over the world.
Collaborations and innovative projects: Between 1977 and 1981, Rega collaborated with renowned artists and designers, participating in innovative projects and exploring new design concepts. These collaborations resulted in the creation of unique pieces, marking an era of experimentation and artistic renewal.
Rega's legacy: his work continued in the prestigious studio in Via Margutta, run with his son Claudio, until his death at the age of 59. Romeo Rega left an indelible mark on the world of design, famous for his ability to combine art and functionality.
