An agate portrait cameo of Karl Theodor Anton Maria Von Dalberg (1744-1817).

Attributed to Johann Martin Bückle (1742-1811), German, Frankfurt am Main, early 19th century.

Measures 2.6 x 1.9cm.

The cameo, crafted from two-layered agate, features a three-quarter portrait facing right. Dalberg is depicted wearing his official robes, with a cross pendant draped over his chest.

Karl Theodor Anton Maria von Dalberg (February 8, 1744 – February 10, 1817) was a Catholic German bishop and statesman. Throughout his career, he held various significant positions, including Prince-Archbishop of Regensburg, Arch-Chancellor of the Holy Roman Empire, Bishop of Constance and Worms, Prince-Primate of the Confederation of the Rhine, and Grand Duke of Frankfurt. Dalberg was also the final Archbishop-Elector of Mainz.
