This 18th century oil on canvas is in good condition, it was once oiled and probably put in rectangular format.
It is sold with a subsequent frame to be restored.

Marie Leszczynska Queen of France and Navarre (1708 - 1768).

Daughter of the fallen king of Poland, Marie Leszczynska married Louis XV in 1725, thanks to the affairs of the duke of Bourbon. Put out of state, little considered by the court, the queen devotes herself to her convent she founded in the city of Versailles for the education of poor girls. She is responsible for the moral and religious education of her son, the Dauphin, who died in 1765, three years before her.
With a spirit that is both playful and serious, very cultured, she knows how to fulfill her role as queen with dignity and is committed to maintaining a «label» as rigorous as under Louis XIV. Marie Leszczynska was chosen in 1725 to marry Louis XV, who had first been engaged to the Infanta of Spain. The latter is considered too young to ensure descent, and she is preferred to be the princess of Poland, seven years the king’s eldest.
In 1726, having sought to support the Duke of Bourbon Louis IV Henri de Bourbon-Condé (1692-1740), Duc de Bourbon, was Chief of the Regency Council during the regency of the Duke of Orléans, then Prime Minister of Louis XV before the Cardinal de Fleury., then Prime Minister and architect of his marriage, she draws the grudge of the cardinal de Fleury, who had a great influence on the King. It then stays out of business and has no political role. Little by little abandoned by Louis XV for the benefit of his mistresses, she devoted herself to devotion and took under her protection many charitable works, contributing in particular to the spread of the cult of the Sacred Heart. The king, however, maintained a deep affection for his wife. Concerned with the education of poor girls, she founded in the city of Versailles the convent of the Queen, which became the Hoche high school, whose buildings were built by the architect Richard Mique. Loving the good food and with a certain humor, she likes to withdraw in the intimate circle of her friends. She enjoys reading, drawing and music. She organizes concerts in the Peace Hall and contributes to the maintenance of the musical life of the Court.
Not a mother, she sees her many children during the ceremonies that punctuate her days. Ladies, his daughters sometimes regret his coldness and distance, unlike Louis XV, who seems to them a more attentive and affectionate father. She however ensures the moral and religious education of her son the Dauphin Louis-Ferdinand Louis Ferdinand de France (1729-1765) died before his father, he was never king but the father of three kings of France: Louis XVI, as well as Louis XVIII and Charles X kings during the Restoration., who died prematurely in 1765. She died a few years later, in 1768.
