BIOGRAPHY:
Born in Nancy in 1815, died in 1881 in Algiers. Painter of genre scenes, landscapes and animated seascapes, church interiors, gouache painter, watercolorist, pastellist lithographer, draftsman. A pupil of Cherioux in Brest, he came to Paris, made his debut at the Salon of 1840 and continued to appear there until 1879. He obtained a medal in 1853.

He was particularly successful in the representation of the Normandy coasts, and he places himself, in this genre, following Eugène Isabey.
