A stunning quality Orivit sterling silver Art Nouveau coffee and tea service. Orivit produced sterling items for a very limited period just after the turn of the 20th century; a complete coffee service such as this is extremely rare. Art Nouveau silver, in general, is scarce and this is a lovely and famous example fashioned in an unusual way. Made from heavy gauge silver, the bodies are squat in form with beautiful feather or fan decoration. Lovely proportions and curves of the pieces create an intriguing design. This stunning service is marked underneath on every piece 'Orivit/ STERLING SILVER/ 925' along with German hallmarks and the model numbers 112,113,114,115. The total weight is 1705 grams 54.82 troy ounces and it is in excellent antique condition with light wear. This is an absolute top quality sterling silver four piece tea coffee set comprising of a teapot, coffee pot sugar bowl and milk jug. The teapot measures 9" (23 cms) across including the handle" by 5 3/4" (14.5 cms) tall to the top of the lid and weighs 535.grams, the coffee pot measures 9" (23 cms) across including the handle by 9" (23 cms) tall to the top of the lid and weighs 685.grams the cream jug is 4 (9 cms) across from handle to tip of spout x 3" (7.5 cms) tall to the top of the spout and weighs 225.4 grams and the sugar bowl is 8 1/2" (22 cms) across including the handles x 3 1/2" (9 cms) high to the rim and weighs 265 grams. All four items are in excellent condition inside and out with no damage and they have gorgeous decoration with no inscriptions or monograms. The insides of all the items are nice and clean.
