The artist
Sine MACKINNON was born in what is now Northern Ireland in 1901. She studied under Henry Tonks at the Slade School of Fine Art in London between 1918 and 1924.
She exhibited in Paris and London from the 1920s. She lived between France (Paris, Provence) and London for many years. The Tate Gallery bought one of her works in 1940. She is a renowned artist both in Great Britain and in France.
Several British museums own some of her works. This is also the case for the Musée du Jeu de Paume in Paris. Her works have been the subject of numerous public sales in France and especially in the United Kingdom.
