Large solid silver jug, remarkably decorated. (Minerva 1st title). It rests on a circular pedestal festooned with water leaves and a row of pearls. The body of the teapot, ovoid in shape, is highlighted in its center by a generous frieze of oak leaves. It is flanked in its upper part and on each side, by an Antique scene; Aphrodite and Venus carrying a generous garland of flowers. On the shoulder enriched with an imposing frieze of water leaves, is set in a hood with abundant stylized foliage, the blackened wooden handle, in a volute. A finely chiseled eagle's head, the generous plumage spreading over the body, forms this superb pouring spout. Highlighted with pearls, the hinged lid supports the fretel, a swan with wings spread on its bed of greenery. Micro-marks and micro-scratches from normal use, no mechanical maintenance, exclusively manual. This magnificent & imposing jug is in very good condition. Minerve 1st title (950/1000) guarantee hallmark on foot, body and lid. Partial goldsmith hallmarks, Initials Pp, probably for Pelletier père et fils, (Pp & Fils) illegible master goldsmith. and other apocryphal hallmarks on the reverse.
