Armchairs, Sofas, Chairs, Bergères Early 19th Century Mahogany

This furniture set from the early 19th century consists of three chairs, six armchairs, two « bergères » and two sofas. These furniture available until next September 3rd can be sold in one or more lots.

These various pieces of furniture belonged to a merchant navy officer. 

These chairs and armchairs, placed in his living room, were a statement of his personality. The whole immediately attracted the eye, the attention of the one who entered the room.

The quality of the wood, solid mahogany, the fabric of covering matched to the curtains and embrasses revealed the elegance, the presence of the owner. The pure and proportional lines impressed and sublimated the whole space. Beyond being functional, the seats brought a unique and timeless touch to its interior.

All the pieces were handmade. They are the result of a Parisian work and more particularly the Faubourg-Saint-Antoine, site famous for its workshops of cabinetmakers, its training centers like the Ecole Boulle, its tapestry decorators.

The repair of seats and records is not required. The horsehair padding, the laying of the white canvas are old-fashioned techniques. 

The two « bergères », six armchairs and two sofas are very enveloping. 

Sofas and « bergères » are full-cheeked, that is to say without a gap between the armrests and the belt. These seats are deep, normally fitted with a large removable cushion that adds comfort.

All these pieces only ask to reveal their past and to transmit a certain art of living. As a new buyer, you will enjoy choosing the final upholstery fabric and matching it to your furniture style.

This set of furniture fits perfectly into the Art Deco style.
