Shunko Deshima Japanese Painter Shunko Deshima is a Japanese painter, illustrator, engraver and lithographer, active in Paris in the first half of the twentieth century. Deshima is one of the emblematic figures of Montparnasse during the Roaring Twenties, just like his compatriot Foujita. He has a refined style where the traditions of Japanese art still prevail over Western influences. His vision of Parisian models is imbued with poetry and delicacy, further reinforced by a pronounced taste for gold or silver backgrounds.
