Gilt bronze mantel clock. The base is richly decorated with Louis Philippe ornaments, surmounted by a lady holding a spool of thread (?) in her right hand. The dial is made of porcelain.

Louis-Philippe, France, circa 1830-50. Dial signed „Desvarieux a Rouen“, mechanism signed: „Medaille d'Or Pons 1827”.

Height 41 cm, width 31.5 cm, depth 10.5 cm.

Good condition, the lady probably originally held something in her left hand. Complete mechanism, but may need to be checked by a watchmaker.

PONS Pierre-Honoré (born December 4, 1773 in Paris; died January 13, 1851 in Paris), known as PONS de Paul. Son of Pierre-César and Catherine Chemin, rue Mouffetard (1773). In 1798, he worked as a watchmaker for Pierre-Basile and Jean-Joseph Lepaute. In 1803, at the age of 30, he set up as a watchmaker on rue de la Huchette in Paris, near Place Saint-Michel. He exhibited in Rouen in 1809 and obtained silver medals in 1819 and 1823 and gold medals in 1827, 1839 and 1844.
