"Victorian 15 Ct Gold Shell Cameo Of Greek Woman In Profile"
Small oval Carnelian shell cameo of a Roman or Greek matron in profile. Great detailed work, with the woman’s eye, lips and hair finely carved. The shell is mounted in an oval 15kt yellow gold frame that is decorated with a twisted rope design. The cameo has a C-clasp pin on reverse and a small hook, so that the brooch can be secured with a safety chain, or attached to a necklace.
Made in England, c. 1880’s.
4.85 g
3 cm tall
2.5 cm wide

Great antique condition. Small hairline crack on reverse of shell; the rim of the mount is a bit uneven due to the handmade nature of the brooch.
