"Photographs 80 Negatives - War 1914 - 1918"
Exceptional set of 80 glass negatives of 13 x 18 cm in their original box bearing a label "AUGUST 1914 1st DEPARTURES OF THE REGIMENTS" and some names of officers: "General Staff - General BOELLE (Victor René Boëlle, born May 10, 1850 in Brest and died October 21, 1942) - Colonel DEGOUTTE (Jean-Marie Degoutte 1866 - 1938) - Colonel JULLIEN (Henri JULLIEN DU BREUIL colonel of the 117th Regiment, died brigadier general, December 27, 1918) - Colonel SABATTIER 44th regiment. (from August 2, 1914 to October 11, 1914.) The negatives represent scenes of trains, cars, an airplane, gatherings of soldiers and conscripts, preparations, parades, officers and even of joy of the crowd who thought that victory would be a formality etc ... but no war scenes. There are many photographs of battlefields, trenches, wounded, dead etc ... taken during the 52 months of the conflict, but this is the first time that I find a set relating to the very beginning of the 1st world war which began on July 28, 1914. This set dating from the first days of August 1914 is certainly one of the first testimonies that can be found on this period. OF HISTORICAL INTEREST ATTENTION: only the negatives are for sale, the positives are photoshop inversions. DETAILED PHOTOS ON REQUEST
