"Alfred Lop Montel (1898-1971), Bouquet Of Dahlias, Oil On Canvas Framed"
Born Alfred Lop in 1898 in Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer in the Var, he died in Paris in 1971. Painter of portraits, landscapes, still lifes and genre scenes, both Parisian and Mediterranean, he began his studies in 1913 at the Beaux-Arts in Marseille before settling in Montparnasse in 1920 where he met his fellow students and in particular, Moise Kisling. To stand out from his brother, Ferdinand Lop, a dandy, and a prominent figure in the neighborhood at the time, Alfred Lop had "Montel" added to his name. Oil on canvas, cleaned, restored by a professional. Not signed on the canvas but noted on the back, oil on canvas from the dispersal of part of the studio in Aix-en-Provence.
