"Louis XV Style Cylinder Desk In Diamond Marquetry, Marble Top And Brass Gallery"
Elegant Louis XV style cylinder desk in precious wood marquetry and diamond patterns. This splendid piece of furniture rests on four arched legs ending in superb sabots encompassing the entirety of the ends of the legs. The two front ones also have in the upper part a beautiful ornamentation of chiseled and openwork bronze falls. The belt is pleasantly scalloped and has three drawers following the shape of the front crosspiece. The upper part opens with a cylinder revealing a small niche surrounded by two drawers and topped with a second crosspiece. A pull equipped with leather allows to enlarge the work surface. The whole is topped with a pretty veined marble in beige and ochre color, surrounded by an openwork brass gallery. The back of our piece of furniture is pleasantly worked, the crosspiece is also scalloped and the whole entirely covered with a beautiful V-shaped veneer work thus allowing to position it in the middle of the room. This piece of furniture is entirely inlaid on its three main faces with magnificent diamond work. Note, a few small veneer chips filled in and a small, unimportant wear on the leather. Very beautiful manufacture from the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th century.
