"A Late 19th Century Carved And Gilded Wooden Center Table "
A late 19th century mid-table, a very beautiful work of gilding and wood carving, whose curved and counter-curved lines and ornaments are inspired by the rocaille style specific to the reign of Louis XV. Four curved legs connected to each other by a volute spacer forming an X whose center is occupied by a very beautiful spinning top in the round. The band connecting them and supporting the marble top is openwork, bringing movement to the whole with its serpentine shape marked by volutes. The center of the longer sides is decorated with an imposing stylized shell from which an interlacing of acanthus leaves escapes abundantly, while the shorter sides are also decorated with a beautiful shell in a more temperate decoration.
