Monstrance - Reliquary („s.rochi“ »saint Roch), Silver And Gilded Metal, Italy, Dated: 1863

Impressive Monstrance - Reliquary ("S.Rochi") in silver-plated copper, gilded bronze, with its original wooden case (box) covered in brown canvas. accompanied by a document of authenticity (see the engraving on the reverse: "Reliquiae S.Rochi authenticae à.D. 1863 huc translatae" The polylobed base in embossed and engraved copper with rocaille and flower decoration. The upper part in mercury-gilded bronze, cruciform with openwork rocaille decoration, its sides decorated with cabochons of the same material (silver-plated bronze). Sheltering in the middle, embedded in an oval hollow: Relic (tiny fragment "ex ossibus" of Saint Roch, embedded in a heart-shaped capsule in double-sided crystal glass; silver wire mount accompanied by a red wax seal. Northern Italy? anno domini 1863. Very good condition.
