Large, elegant, antique, rectangular-section presentation tray made of translucent, press-molded crystal with a “honeycomb” pattern of small, aggregated honeycomb motifs.
Trays of this type were once marketed either on their own, as is, or to accompany night services, liqueur services... Today, it is possible to use them as trays, as pocket trays, as serving platters... The decorative aspect is real, as is the useful, practical side.
Manufacture de BACCARAT; cast production from the early 20th century, around 1900-1920.
Very fine craftsmanship, and beautiful (if classical) decoration. Beautiful molding, dense, brilliant crystal.
Baccarat signature inside the tray, molded into the crystal in stick letters: “Baccarat” on one side, and “Déposé” on the other.
- DIMENSIONS -
- the length of the tray is approximately 32.00 CM;
- its width, is 21.75 CM ;
- height, approx. 03.00 CM.
- STATE OF PRESERVATION,
CONDITION REPORT -
the tray is in very good condition: no particular wear, no chips, no cracks or knocks, no accidents.
The crystal is perfectly brilliant, clear and unaltered, with no haze or opacification.
There are only very faint, inconspicuous and invisible signs of use:
- very slight and invisible scratches from use on the reverse of the base, underneath, under the lower rim (without any incidence, see photo no. 4); and slight rubbing (photo no. 5) ;
- still on the underside of the base (not visible when the tray is placed on the table), there are small, but not really serious material losses (photos no. 6, 7);
- the possibility of microscopic, invisible scratches inside the tray, which are in no way serious or perceptible. This is simply normal wear and tear;
- minor signs of use on the underside of the tray, visible through the glass (photo no. 8).
Overall, the object remains in very good condition.
The few marks mentioned and illustrated above, in addition to being faintly visible, are quite usual on an object of this type, second-hand and so old. They are normal, part of its history, and in no way detrimental.
