"A Pair Of Empire Period Candlesticks By Claude Galle"
Elegant pair of candlesticks in chased and regilded bronze from the Empire period.
On a circular base decorated with a frieze of foliage, flowers and a gadrooned rosette, rests the sheathed shaft decorated with a vase also gadrooned, with fluting and rings. It ends with a socket chased with Lotus leaves. Parisian work circa 1805 whose model is attributed to Claude Galle, Bibliography: Pendulums and bronzes entered under the First Empire, National Museum of Fontainebleau by Jean-Pierre Samoyault. 1989 edition p.181, n° 163.
