Set of 4 Louis 16 Chairs, with Medallion, Stamped J.NADAL.LAINE, for Jean-Rene NADAL (1733-1783). They are made of natural wood, with a round seat and a Medallion backrest. They are upholstered with Needlepoint Tapestry. They measure 86.5 CM in Height, 47 CM in Length, and 43 CM in Depth. The seat height is 44 CM. NADAL Jean-René Jean-René Nadal (1733-1783) known as Nadal the elder. Carpenter-sculptor. Master's degree obtained on September 22, 1756 Jean-René Nadal is the eldest son of Jean Nadal, a chair carpenter, and the daughter of his colleague Jean Cresson. He is also the brother of Jean-Michel Nadal, himself a chair carpenter. Nadal took over the workshop on Rue de Cléry – probably after his father's death – and decided to set up shop on the same street under the sign of the "Silver Lion". During his career, he worked mainly for the Crown and for the Count of Artois, to whom he delivered many seats.
