Pieter van Mase was an incredibly versatile 2nd half 17th century painter from Rotterdam. Besides such a bird scenes he also painted Dutch summer or winter landscapes and beach scenes, Italianate harbour and market scenes, Rhine river views and fish still lifes.
Many of his paintings go hidden under attributions to better-known contemporary Dutch artists.
