Biography:
Marcel André BOURAINE 1886 / 1948
Sculptor born in Pontoise working in the 20th century. French School. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Tuileries since 1922.
He studied sculpture under the direction of Joseph-Alexandre Falguière. Captured by the Germans during the First World War, he was interned in Switzerland.
Back in Paris, he exhibited at the Salon des Tuileries in 1922. After beginnings still imbued with academicism, Bouraine revealed himself in the 1925s as one of the most representative sculptors of Art Deco. Bouraine was a member of the Society of French Artists and participated in the Salon d'Automne.
In 1928, he collaborated with Gabriel Argy-Rousseau who commissioned several sculptures from him, as well as sometimes with his friend Pierre Le Faguays. He also exhibited two monumental sculptures at the 1937 Universal Exhibition in Paris.
