"Mysterious Diaphanous Serpent"
Like a fortune teller's sphere, this glass ball contains a mysterious product in which a diaphanous snake swims. By what mysterious process was it possible to make the tissues translucent so that only the colored bones could be seen? This little snake convulses in its bubble according to our movements and I never tire of looking at its skeleton. Diaphanization is a method of preparation that consists of tinting the skeleton or cartilage of a specimen, generally small, while making the muscles translucent. Hence the term "diaphanous": which lets light through.
