Marble and alabaster sculpture representing Psyche revived by the kiss of Love delivered by Eros after the famous work of the Italian sculptor Antonio Canova (1757-1822). This is a neo-classical work from a 19th century Italian school, marked by details including Psyche's hair and drapery. The sculptor wanted to be faithful to the myth according to which Psyche with incomparable beauty was petrified by a deep sleep due to the jealousy of Aphrodite who did not want a rival. Eros runs and revives her with a languorous embrace followed by a saving kiss.
