Rare 18th Century Travel Heater

Description:
Bronze and embossed brass, gilded and silvered.
This warmer is in the shape of a melon decorated with flowering foliage. The sphere opens into two valves releasing two removable openwork partitions.
The embers were held by the partitions and this warmer could be used open or closed. It was used in a sedan chair, carriage, sedan, etc.

Condition:
Good used condition, slight interior oxidation due to embers. Gilding with its patina and wear from use.

closed: height: 17 cm x width: 14 cm x thickness: 13 cm Open: 31 cm.
