Born on February 21, 1885 in Paris 4th, and died in Montrouge on January 31, 1960, Auguste Bognard was named knight of the Legion of Honor by decree of 01-29-1939. He was director of the society of wounded and maimed war artists "La Samothrace".
A talented watercolorist, he has a particular predilection for genre scenes, sketching his characters with truth and finesse. His observation is often tinged with malice and a touch of humor, while his mastery of composition and drawing brings an astonishing depth to the apparently simple situations of everyday life that he transposes with great accuracy.
