Object description :

"Antique George III Newcastle Sterling Silver Teapot, David Crawford 1780"
Very rare English provincial silver teapot dating to George III period. Classical shape of straight oval body with tapering spout and pear wood handle. Flat hinged lid with ebony finial and chased wheat band decoration to the top. The teapot has a plain body that is trimmed with gadrooned borders on top and base.

Provenance: private collection Gwynedd

Made by David Crawford and fully assayed for Newcastle, 1780

9.3 x 12.3 cm across the base
23.5 cm spout to handle

Excellent antique condition. Tarnishing inside; finial screw has been replaced with a bolt; ebony finial later date replacement; few tiny dings and nicks appropriate to age; indent to handle where the finial hits it when the lid is opened; small indent near the base of the spout; 2 faint scratches near the rim; the rim of the spout a bit uneven.
