BIOGRAPHY
Mick Micheyl is a French artist born in 1922. She is just as well known as a singer and songwriter as she is as a painter, engraver and sculptor.
Paulette Jeanne Renée Michey, whose artist name is Mick Micheyl, began by studying at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lyon.
She then intended to pursue a career as a decorative painter.
During her studies at the Beaux-Arts, Mick Mychel frequented a troupe of amateur actors and singers.
She sang and composed, entered the singing competition of the Music-Hall ABC in Paris and began singing in Parisian cabarets.
She found fame and led a career as a singer for nearly twenty years, with a string of successes.
She also became a producer at ORTF. In 1974, she left the stage to devote herself to painting and sculpture.
She engraved and sanded steel sheets, which she called her peintureôles, playing on metallic reflections to animate her subjects.
Her works enjoyed the same success as her songs, and she exhibited both in France and internationally. Her figurative subjects, often animal, and a technique that she was one of the few to use, ensured her fame.
Some of her works are exhibited in museums and large public or private institutions.
In 2009, she stopped all activity, her eyesight having been dangerously diminished by shards of iron filings received during her artistic work.
She died in 2019.
