Elegant 17th Century Corner Stand

Description:

This corner stand is deeply carved with an elegant "mess" of vines, volutes on which a dragon sits.
The design of the whole, despite an apparent disorder, is quite balanced, the volutes opposing each other and especially the dragon whose neck is in the center of a broken pediment created by its two outstretched wings.
Moreover, the form of its use (saddle) appears little in a glance, it is almost a sculpture in its own right. This type of decoration on a secular object is rarely found. This stand carried a heavy statue, the strong piton is intended for heavier than the stand.
Conditions :
Very good conditions for this type of object, age chips without fragility. Beautiful patina of the wood.
