Object description :

"Edgar Brandt, Cobra Lamp, Art Deco Bronze"
This iconic model by Edgar Brandt features a bronze lamp with a brown and copper patina, depicting a rearing cobra with its mouth open, revealing its menacing forked tongue. The threatening reptile coils around a frosted glass tulip, echoing the stylistic elements of the famous "Temptation" lamp that Edgar Brandt unveiled in 1920, inspired by the biblical serpent of Adam and Eve.

Observing the finely detailed scales and the lifelike impression emanating from this serpent, one cannot help but admire the virtuosity of one of the greatest master ironworkers of the Art Deco period.

The lamp bears the engraved signature "E Brandt" on its base.
