"Pair Of Excellent Sculpted Oak Stepladders With Patina From The Mid-19th Century, Switzerland Or Tyrol "
Coming from a castle in the Tarn, these magnificent, richly decorated oak escabelles; with a rich sculpture in the Renaissance style, come from Switzerland or the Tyrol. These are pieces in a remarkable state of conservation with a beautiful and rare patina coated with a light glossy varnish with a protective buffer. These are pretty ceremonial seats to place on each side of a chest or a fireplace with a beautiful decorative presence and an original and neat assembly like the baroque ornaments of the generous front foot in apron and the lively backrest of a mastered and very well finished sculpture. The stable and solid hexagonal seat with at the back a generous overhang of the support of the backrest mounted with a key as it should be. Healthy and very robust, this beautiful pair of Escabelles chairs are in the spirit of the Renaissance and a beautiful assumed baroque; a touch of beauty and elegance of the castle decoration so dear to our hearts....
