Object description :

"Louis XV Period Carved And Gilded Wood Fireplace Mirror. "
Louis XV period carved and gilded wood fireplace mirror. Elegant Louis XV period woodwork mirror, painted in shades of gray with its original mercury glass as well as these pretty carved and gilded wooden glazing beads with patterns of roses, daisies and foliage swirling around the molding, rocaille motif ornamentation adorning the molding backgrounds and the perimeter of the glass, the pediment is carved with an openwork walnut topped with a stylized palmette. This mirror dating from the middle of the 18th century shows wear and losses to the decorations, the gilding which is the original one also shows wear and a patina of time without makeup, the glass has wear to the tin. The sculpture work is particularly well done with a beautiful liveliness and rich details demonstrating quality work. Dimensions: Height: 145 cm Width: 112 cm
