Originally from Saint-Étienne, Féguide showed an early talent for painting, a passion he cultivated throughout his life.
As a student at the Villa Medici in Rome, Féguide was profoundly influenced by the great masters of the Italian Renaissance. This experience left its mark on his artistic career, fuelling his ceaseless exploration of form, colour and emotion in his work. Féguide excelled in landscapes, still lifes and portraits, capturing the subtle nuances of light and shadow with remarkable finesse.
This pastel evokes Féguide's travels in Mediterranean countries, where the artist strove to capture the atmosphere. The figures give rhythm to the composition, and the colours give it harmony.
A retrospective exhibition of the artist's work was held in Eygalières in 2022, reviving interest in Marcel Féguide's work and underlining his importance in the contemporary artistic panorama.
