Object description :

"Donath & Co, Dresden, 2 Cobalt Vases, Late 19th Century"
A pair of late 19th century Dresden flute vases, cobalt blue ground with a gilt overlay, each enclosing a hand-painted panel depicting oval classical scenes of figures in 18th century costume in landscapes. The scene is framed by gilt floral motifs. The vase has a cobalt blue ground with gilt floral decoration on the neck and back of the vase. The rim of the vase is gilt over a band of gilt diamonds and scrolls. The cartouche frame and upper rim of the vase are gilt. The cobalt blue surface is painted by the masters of German porcelain painting with fine lines of gilt flowers. Beautiful Dresden porcelain adorns many museums and private collections around the world. It can be part of your personal collection. Both vases appear to have been made by the craftsmen of Donath & Co. Donath & Co, Dresden, Germany, was founded in 1872. The workshop decorated porcelain in a style that was a mixture of Dresden and Viennese floral painting. In 1916 Donath & Co merged with another Dresden porcelain decorating workshop run by Richard Klemm. The vases are marked in blue on the bottom. The condition of the vases is excellent considering their age, one vase has a small chip on the upper rim, the color is very well preserved, the loss of gilding is minimal. Height 23.2 cm Top diameter 12.1 cm Please study the accompanying photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of this description. The item will be shipped with full tracking and insurance.
