Pair Of Candlesticks Circa 1500

Description:
Chiseled bronze with honey brown patina.
This pair of candlesticks was made in Northern Italy (Milan?).
These lights are designed with a wide base with a projection. On a background pricked with a punch, a frieze of satyr masks alternating with bouquets encircles the plinth of the base.
The socket decorated with scales and acanthus leaves and practically without a shaft rests on a column trunk with moldings decorated with the same motif and satyr masks too.
The Louvre has a very similar model, except for molding details and a size that is about two centimeters different. Moreover, the design of this form of candlestick with a wide base and without a shaft (with or without decoration, often smooth) will be found in many candlesticks almost until the middle of the 17th century and throughout Europe (even more in the Levant).
But this decorated and molded model remains rare and elegant. I have attached two large 19th century blown red glass bobeches but at the model of those used at the time of the torches.

Condition:
Very good condition of the bronze, the patina has been revived because the torches were dirty with age and wax and had to be cleaned.
