MEISSEN (Germany) Snuff box with rococo decoration White porcelain with light relief decoration Gilded brass frame Work from the 18th century, around 1750 - 1760 Provenance: important Lyon collection H. 4 x 8.5 x 6.6 cm The snuff box, rectangular in shape, made of porcelain with rococo decoration of flower baskets, the movement frame in gilded brass. Inside the lid, a superb painted miniature representing a young aristocrat with her hands in her muff, sitting on her Louis XV period chair in gilded wood. A work by Meissen Located in the heart of South-East Germany near Austria, it was a huge production center for European porcelain following the discovery of a Kaolin deposit. The production was exported throughout Europe and Meissen porcelain, like our box, was among the most refined objects that an aristocrat had to own. Condition report Some firing cracks but very good overall condition
