"Ointment Pot - Gan Culture, Burkina Faso - End Of The 19th Century"
A four-legged NGUM POT with two seated figures on the sides. One of them rests his hands on two sinuous snakes occupying the sides of the vessel. The circular neck is decorated with woven friezes and concentric discs. The lid features a richly adorned king or dignitary holding a cane or regalia in his left hand.
It is possible to see a stylised chariot in this vessel.
