"Very Nice, Early Carl Thieme Dresden Porcelain Elephant Of Large Size"
The elephant is shown with its trunk raised and is draped with an embroidered and tasselled blanket. Hand painted and modeled with fine detail. Carl Thieme founded his porcelain factory in Potschappel, Germany in 1872. Once a decorator and porcelain painter for Meissen, he began production of his own porcelain and hired a talented flower modeler by the name ofKarl August Kuntasch who later became both his business partner and son-in-law. Kuntasch was responsible for introducing and promoting Thieme porcelain on an international level, and it soon became world famous. Size: 8.5? height by 12 length.
