Enameled and gilded porcelain candy box with polychrome decoration of animated scenes in cartouches on the lid.The motifs of the labels evoke the morals of the "incredible" and "marvelous" eccentric youth of Paris under the Directory and are inspired by an engraving by Louis Carrogis known as Carmontelle (1795-1799).
All the characters and foliage are enhanced by hand before being painted with colored enamels and powdered with pure gold.
Excellent condition, no chips, no fel, no restoration.
