Bodyguard sabre for Monsieur, brass hilt with four branches decorated with fleurons, plate decorated with a cut-out palmette and bearing two numbers on the underside: "110" and "15", wooden fuse covered with shagreen, filigree; Montmorency type blade, signed on the back: "Manufre Royale de Klingenthal Coulaux frères May 1816" and engraved, on the faces: "Gardes du corps de Monsieur" framed by two fleurs-de-lis, and the arms of Monsieur between a radiant sun and a trophy of arms; iron scabbard signed: "Manceaux" with two brass gadrooned bail bracelets, numbered: "161". 800 MONSIEUR'S BODYGUARD TROUPE SABRE, 1814 MODEL, RESTORATION. Four-branched guard in gilded brass, main branch without decoration fixed to the cap and the three secondary branches are united and decorated at the bottom with a cinquefoil ending with an acanthus leaf and at the top with an acanthus leaf emerging from a peduncle common to the three branches. Guard plate with protruding edge, without quillon but ending with a tail in the shape of a fleur-de-lis and numbered below "110" (guard's number), it also bears a smaller punch under the guard "15". Wooden handle, it is tied then covered with chambrayed calfskin and a copper filigree. Curved blade with hollow side and fuller, the front face is engraved with the motto "GARDES / DU / CORPS / DE / MONSIEUR" framed at the top and bottom by a fleur-de-lis and near the heel by a military trophy. The other side is engraved with the Coat of Arms of Monsieur, a military trophy near the heel and above the face of the Sun on a background of a radiant sun. It is signed on the back "Manufacture royale du Klingenthal mai 1816". Length 93 cm, width at the heel 3 cm. Sheet steel scabbard with steel cup entrance, bracelets, pitons and bail rings in gilded brass; the bracelets are plain framed by a simple protruding molding (H 1.4 cm). It is stamped on the back "161" and signed on the back "Manceaux". Steel dart in the shape of an ovoid button. Length of the scabbard 96.4 cm. Very good condition, uncleaned, gilding well present.
