"Charles X, Console Secretary In Burl Mahogany And Fillets, 19th Century"
Superb and very rare piece of furniture from the Charles X period. This is a hybrid piece of furniture, most certainly custom-made by a seasoned cabinetmaker. It is a console topped with a drop-leaf secretary in mahogany burl veneer, rosewood and light wood fillets. Interior of the secretary in lemonwood and rosewood. High quality marquetry of the fillets with a perfect match between the console and the secretary in the corners and the ogee. The proportions of this piece of furniture are perfect for it to fit into a living room as well as a bedroom. The console has slightly crooked jambs with a marquetry panel with a star of the winds at the bottom. Even the small melon feet are marquetry. This console opens with a large drawer in a band. The secretary part has a mirror door with mercury stain. The gilded tawny leather flap opens onto a theater with drawers and storage. Under the drawer in the middle, an old label with the date 1832. Furniture in very good house condition, with some small imperfections normal for its age. It cannot be dismantled. Period early 19th century Delivery, flat on pallet and wooden crate around to protect it, by carrier on the ground floor, 200 euros in France, 600 euros in the EU and 1500 euros rest of the world.
